01 / ABOUT

Clinical depth. Genuine understanding.

I’m Kate, the owner and lead therapist at Kate Camps Therapy. Since beginning my mental health career in 2010, I have supported children, teenagers and adults across adolescent mental health and neurodevelopmental services, including as an ADHD specialist nurse.

More about my approach

Neurodiversity-affirming practice is central to my work. I understand that therapy needs to fit the person not ask them to hide who they are. I adapt how we work around individual communication styles, sensory needs, strengths and ways of experiencing the world.

My training in CBT, IPT and EMDR allows me to combine structured, evidence-based therapy with warmth, curiosity and compassion. My nursing background also gives me a strong understanding of how mental and physical health interact, as well as the role medication can play. Whether I’m working directly with someone or supporting the parents of a younger child, I offer a practical and grounded approach to meaningful, sustainable change.

02 / APPROACH

Different minds need different maps

Evidence-led.
Human at heart.

Mental health nursing

Mental health nursing takes a whole-person view of wellbeing. It considers how emotional health, physical health, medication, relationships and everyday circumstances can affect one another. This broader clinical understanding can help make support both safe and practical.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps you understand the connections between your thoughts, feelings, physical responses and actions. Together, we explore patterns that may be keeping difficulties going and develop practical ways to create meaningful change.

Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)

IPT explores how relationships and significant life events can affect emotional wellbeing. It can help with experiences such as bereavement, conflict, changing roles and loneliness, while supporting more secure and fulfilling relationships. Although developed for people of all neurotypes, an appropriately adapted approach can be especially valuable for autistic people and those with ADHD.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR helps the brain process distressing memories or experiences that may still feel present or overwhelming. Using a carefully paced and structured approach, it aims to reduce their emotional impact and help them become part of the past.

Third-wave therapies

Approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) help people respond to difficult thoughts and feelings with greater flexibility and self-compassion. Rather than trying to eliminate every uncomfortable experience, the focus is on reducing struggle, understanding what matters to you and taking meaningful steps towards the life you want to lead.

Counselling

Counselling offers a confidential and supportive space to explore thoughts, feelings, relationships and life experiences. Our associate therapists may draw on different counselling approaches, adapting the work to what feels most helpful for each person.
